Women’s Cross Country Runs at James Earley Invitational
Devlin paces Ravens in 23:17
Mather finished second among Ravens running at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
WESTFIELD, Mass. (October 8, 2011) – Freshman Kelsey Devlin (Warwick, R.I.) finished 195th overall in a time of 23:17 on Saturday afternoon as the Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team placed 31st in the James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State. Bridgewater State senior Molly Rouillard won the individual title with a time of 18:45, while Coast Guard claimed the team title.
Devlin paced the Ravens by just less than two minutes, as junior Brittany Mather (North Kingstown, R.I.) stopped the clock at 25:04 to place 259th. Mather would be the first in a group of three Franklin Pierce runners who finished within eight seconds of each other, as junior Keri Marnane (Cranston, R.I.) was 263rd with a time of 25:10 and sophomore Natasha Pastor (Fitzwilliam, N.H.) finished 265th with a time of 25:12. Freshman Maggie Campbell (Queensbury, N.Y.) rounded out the Ravens five scoring runners, as she crossed the line in 26:27 to finish 287th.
Also in the field for Franklin Pierce on Saturday were freshman Madelene Morrill (Greenville, Pa.) and sophomore Bianca Acebron-Peco (Bow, N.H.), who finished 311th and 328th, respectively. Morrill finished with a time of 27:33, while Acebron-Peco posted a 28:48.
Coast Guard had two runners in the top 10 and placed all five in the top 25 to finish with 68 points to post a 17-point victory over host Westfield State (85 points). Behind the Bears and Owls, Le Moyne (127), University of New England (134) and Saint Anselm (154) rounded out the top five in the 38-team meet.
Individually, Rouillard edged Coast Guard freshman Beth Gollin (18:51) by six seconds for the meet title. Behind Gollin, Westfield State freshman Amy Trainque (19:01), Trinity (Conn.) senior Reagan Aylmer (19:07) and Westfield State freshman Olivia Marshall (19:10) rounded out the top five individuals.
The Ravens return to action on Sunday, Oct. 23, when they wrap up the season at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, hosted by American International, at 10 a.m. at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.
