Alex Eckhardt enters her third season, and second as Head Coach, with the Franklin Pierce University men's and women's tennis programs in 2011-12. She also serves as Assistant Coach with the school's women's soccer program.
Since arriving in Rindge for the fall of 2008, Eckhardt has assisted Head Coach Jeff Bailey as the women’s soccer program continued its long line of success, including competing in the Northeast-10 Tournament Championship game and advancing to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years. She handled several responsibilities with the program, including working with the goalkeepers.
Eckhardt also volunteered as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s tennis programs when she first came to Franklin Pierce and later served as interim head coach of both teams during the conclusion of the 2009 spring season, prior to her full-time appointment at the head of both programs.
She holds an NSCAA Goalkeeping Diploma, Level 1 coaching license and is an ACSM certified personal trainer. Eckhardt also has worked as an instructor at various soccer camps and clinics around New England.
Eckhardt played soccer at Stonehill College from 2004-08 and was a two-time captain as the goalkeeper, earning All-Conference and All-Academic accolades from the NE-10. Prior to that, she was a five-year letterwinner in tennis at Marshfield (Mass.) High School, where she returned as an assistant coach from 2004-06. Eckhardt has continued to play soccer while employed at FPU, taking the pitch for the Classic Crush of the Eastern Massachusetts Women’s Soccer League (EMWSL).
Eckhardt earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Stonehill with a minor in environmental studies. She earned her master’s degree in sports facilities management from Franklin Pierce in May 2010.
