Gabriela Demoner Named NE-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week on Monday
Senior midfielder scores all three goals for the Ravens during the week
RINDGE, N.H. (October 17, 2009) – Franklin
Pierce women’s soccer standout Gabriela Demoner
(Vitoria, Brazil) was named the Northeast-10 Conference
Player of the Week on Monday. It marked the third time this season
Demoner earned the honor from the league. She is the only
student-athlete to earn the player-of-the-week award multiple times
this season.
Demoner earned the accolade after scoring all three goals for
Franklin Pierce during the past week, as the Ravens went 1-0-1. She
has 26 goals on the season, which leads all players nationally at
all levels of the NCAA (Divisions I, II & III).
Demoner scored twice – one in each half – to pace the
Ravens to a 2-1 win over Merrimack on Wednesday. She followed with
a dramatic goal from 35 yards out on Saturday versus Adelphi, to
knot the game at 1-1 early in the second half and prevent the
Ravens from dropping an important match on their home field.
The Ravens (12-3-1 overall, 10-2-1 NE-10) currently sit in third
place in the conference with 31 points. They are one point out of
second place.
Franklin Pierce returns to action Tuesday when it plays host to
Saint Anselm at 4 p.m. in Sodexo Field. The game marks Senior Day
as the team’s seniors will be honored prior to the contest.
The Ravens close out the regular season on Saturday by traveling to
face Assumption.
