Gabriela Demoner Named Northeast-10 Player of the Week in Women's Soccer
Senior collects five goals, 11 points on the week
RINDGE, N.H. (September 21, 2009) – Senior
midfielder Gabriela Demoner (Vitoria, Brazil) was
named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week in
women’s soccer, the league announced on Monday. Demoner
scored five goals, including a game-winner, and added an assist, to
total 11 points in a 2-0-0 week for the Ravens.
She scored all three of Franklin Pierce’s goals in last
Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Saint Michael’s in a key
conference road win. It marked Demoner’s second-consecutive
three-goal game for the Ravens.
Demoner’s strong play continued in Sunday’s 5-0
triumph at New Haven. She chipped in two goals and an assist for a
five-point afternoon. Her second goal in the 76th minute proved to
be the game-winner to lift the No. 22-nationally ranked Ravens to
their fourth-consecutive victory.
On the season, Demoner has logged 16 goals and three assists for a
team-high 35 points. Her 35 points leads the Northeast-10 and is 12
points higher than the nearest competitor. Demoner’s 35
points through her first seven games already surpasses her point
total for the entire 2008 season. Her 16 goals are also tops in the
league and are six more than the second highest goal scorer.
The Ravens return to action on Tuesday when they play host to
Bentley at 7 p.m. at Sodexo Field in Rindge.
