Day 7 (July 7)

The Serbian delegation makes its way from the University Village to the arena for the Opening Ceremonies.

July 7th

Each day is a new experience and new opportunity. Saturday we lost our opportunity to compete for a medal, but playing against the Chinese team, we earned invaluable experience. They are a fast and experienced team! From the start I realized that they have an excellent midfield and that they will try short passes through the middle. However, they were also very dangerous after the free kick. In the first half my team was chasing them and defending the goal. We couldn't connect passes and they were much faster. On the half time break we went with one goal in our net! The second half was much better for the Serbian team. We opened up and start attacking their goal. In the last 20 minutes we made huge pressure on their defense, but they used one of our mistakes to score another goal.

A couple days before the game I took picture with three Chinese players in the restaurant. After the game, when we were shaking hands, one of them gave me a hug. I love how she doesn't care about the fouls or about the rivalry, but about the friendship we made outside the field.

Serbia is continuing competition in the (consolation) group. (Yesterday) we played against Hungary! (Editor's Note: Serbia won 5-0).

While sitting here and writing these words, I can't help but hear the music from the stage in the middle of the University Village! On that same stage there are concerts or theater shows almost every night.
