Myriam Croussette Named Graduate Assistant Coach for Women's Ice Hockey
Enters the coaching ranks after an impressive collegiate playing career at the University of Maine
RINDGE, N.H. (May 17, 2012) -- Franklin Pierce University
women's ice hockey head coach David Stockdale
announced on Thursday that Myriam Croussette has
been hired as the new graduate assistant coach for the program,
which will begin competition in the 2012-13 season.
"I'm very excited to have Myriam joining our program in the first year of competition," Stockdale said. "Myriam had a fantastic collegiate playing career and she has a tremendous amount of passion for the sport of ice hockey. I believe all of that will translate well into her helping to build the program here at Franklin Pierce."
Croussette graduated with a degree in kinesiology and physical education from the University of Maine earlier this month, while also achieving Scholar-Athlete status by maintaining a 3.07 cumulative grade point average.
She was one of the program's top players over the past four years, playing in 131 of a possible 132 games. Croussette put together a strong senior season in 2011-12 as she ranked third on the team in goals (11), assists (13) and points (24), while helping to guide the Black Bears to the most overall (17) and conference wins (11) for a single season in program history. Maine also advanced to the Women's Hockey East playoffs for the second-straight season.
Croussette had a fantastic junior season in 2010-11 as she tied for the team lead in goals (14), ranked second in assists (12) and tied for tops on the squad with 26 points. She was named the WHEA Pure Hockey Player of the Week on Feb. 12, 2011 after she tossed in two goals (including the game-winner) and recorded a helper for a three-point effort in a victory over No. 7-nationally ranked Boston College. She led all Black Bear rookies in scoring in 2008-09 and was named the team's freshman of the year following the season.
Prior to UMaine, Croussette played for Dawson College in Westmount, Quebec (2006-08) and for Team Quebec Under-18 (2005-06).
The Franklin Pierce Department of Athletics announced back in September of 2011 the University would sponsor the sport of women's ice hockey at the varsity level, beginning with the 2012-13 season. The Ravens will compete as an independent program in 2012-13 and will kick off their inaugural season in late October. More details about the team's schedule will be announced at a later date during the summer months.
