Ravens Golf Holds Commanding Lead at Own Tournament

KEENE, N.H. (October 15, 2017) The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team hosted the first round of the FPU Fall Invitational at the Keene Country Club on Sunday afternoon.

The Ravens are currently in first place as they combined to shoot a 305 (+17) on the par 72, 5,924 yard course. They hold a huge 24 stroke advantage over second place squad Le Moyne College who shot a 329 (+41). Fellow Northeast-10 Conference opponent Assumption College rounds out the top-three at 339 (+51).

All five Raven golfers ranked within the invites top-six. Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) finished round one as the individual leader at 74 (+2). Teammate Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) is one stroke back of Daley as the team captain golfed a 75 (+3). Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) tied for the third spot in the rankings at 78 (+6) while Rosa Jones (Mastic, N.Y.) is tied for sixth place as she was eight over with an 80 scorecard.

Morrison leads all players in par 3 scoring (3.00, E) and par 5 scoring (4.50, -2) while Daley ranks first in par 4 scoring (3.90, -1) and total eagles (1). Jones recorded 14 total pars over the 18 holes Sunday.

Three FPU golfers traveled to Keene and competed as individuals. Sophomore Taylor Hartley (Battle Ground, Wash.) is tied for sixth place with Jones at 80 (+8) while leading all golfers in total birdies (4), Sydney Caron (Gorham, Maine) poured in an 89 (+17) and Shannon Slater (Stafford Springs, Conn.) tacked on a 94 (+22).

Franklin Pierce looks to improve tomorrow during the second round that tees off at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.
