RINDGE, N.H. (August 11, 2009) – The defending Northeast-10 Conference champion and national finalist Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball team will make its first-ever regular-season national television appearance this season when it travels to Bentley on Feb. 20. The game, scheduled for a noon tip-off at Dana Center in Waltham, Mass., will be televised live on the CBS College Sports Network.

“I am very pleased to hear that our women’s basketball team has been selected to play on national television,” said Bruce Kirsh, Vice President and Director of Athletics. “It is a direct reflection of the success we have had the past two seasons. This will give great visibility to the University.”

The game is a re-match of the final round of last season’s Northeast-10 Conference Championship and is one of eight Division II games selected to be televised on the CBS College Sports Network. The broadcasts, which feature eight different conferences, begin on Jan. 9 and feature one game each week through Feb. 27. In addition to television, each game will be available online at ncaa.com.

“This is a great opportunity for us,” said Head Women’s Basketball Coach Steve Hancock. “Appearing on national television is great exposure not only for the women’s basketball program, but for the entire university.”

Last season, the Ravens put together a 29-6 campaign (18-4 Northeast-10) and captured both the Northeast-10 Conference regular season and tournament championships for the first time since joining the conference in 2000. Franklin Pierce then went on to capture their second-straight NCAA East Regional Championship and trip to the Division II Elite Eight. The Ravens were ranked No. 2 in the final USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Division II poll, which is the highest national ranking in program history.
