(March 19, 2010) – Sophomore third baseman Meaghan O’Neal (Littleton, Mass.) hit two doubles and a single to drive home five runs on Friday to lead the Franklin Pierce University softball team to a 10-0, six-inning victory over St. Thomas Aquinas in neutral-site, non-conference play at the National Training Center. Later in the day, the Ravens were defeated, 5-0, by No. 20 nationally ranked Rollins. With the split, Franklin Pierce wraps up its spring trip to Florida at 5-8 (0-0 Northeast-10).

(March 18, 2010) – Freshman Jessica Furtado (Taunton, Mass.) hit a three-run, game-winning double on Thursday afternoon to give the Franklin Pierce University softball team a 6-5, walk-off victory over Philadelphia in neutral-site, non-conference play at the National Training Center. Earlier in the day, Franklin Pierce dropped a 3-0 decision to Caldwell. With the split, the Ravens are now 4-7 (0-0 Northeast-10).

Softball Picks Up Pair Of Wins, Over Nyack and St. Thomas Aquinas, Falls to Limestone

(March 16, 2010) – Freshman right-hander Lindsay Hodges (Sherburne, N.Y.) threw a five-hit shutout on Tuesday afternoon to lead the Franklin Pierce University softball team to a 8-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas in neutral-site, non-conference action at the National Training Center. Earlier in the day, junior second baseman Emily Griffin (Leominster, Mass.) pounded two doubles and a single, drove home three runs and scored three times as the Ravens ran up a 10-1 victory over Nyack. In between the two wins, Franklin Pierce dropped a 3-0 decision to Limestone.

(March 15, 2010) – Junior second baseman Emily Griffin (Leominster, Mass.) clubbed three doubles and drove in five runs on Monday morning to lead the Franklin Pierce University softball team to a 16-3, six-inning victory over Nyack in neutral-site, non-conference play at the National Training Center. Later on Monday, sophomore first baseman Keryn Shannon (Dracut, Mass.) knocked an RBI double, but the Ravens were defeated, 8-1, by Indiana Tech. With the split, Franklin Pierce moves to 1-5 (0-0 Northeast-10) on the season.

Softball Clipped Twice By Molloy

CLERMONT, Fla. (March 14, 2010) – Junior second baseman Emily Griffin (Leominster, Mass.) recorded three hits, including a triple and a double, on Sunday afternoon, but the Franklin Pierce University softball team was swept by Molloy in a neutral-site, non-conference doubleheader at the National Training Center. The Ravens lost the first game, 3-2, and the second game, 2-1. With the losses, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-4 (0-0 Northeast-10).

Softball Drops Pair in Florida to Open Season

CLERMONT, Fla. (March 13, 2010) – Junior outfielder Nicole Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) recorded three hits on Saturday, but the Franklin Pierce University softball team lost its first two games of the season in neutral-site play at the National Training Center. The Ravens were defeated by Grand Valley State, 6-0, in the morning, before falling to Saint Joseph’s (Ind.), 3-2, in the afternoon.

RINDGE, N.H. (July 23, 2009) – 130 of Franklin Pierce University’s 276 student-athletes, who compete in Northeast-10 Conference sports have been recognized as members of the Conference’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the Spring 2009 semester. The 130 Ravens are part of the 2,619 student-athletes from the NE-10’s 15 member institutions that earned a 3.0 semester grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.

Bentley also won the first game, 4-0, as senior first baseman Dina Ferriero (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury) hit 1-for-3 with a two-run double.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 26, 2009) – Sophomore right fielder Meghan Colitti (Dover, N.H./Berwick Academy) hit an RBI double to left field in the top of the eighth inning to bring home the game-winning run and give Saint Michael’s a 4-3 win over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the first game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Franklin Pierce Softball Field on Sunday afternoon. Saint Michael’s also won the second game, 13-1 in five innings, as four different Purple Knights drove in a pair of runs each.

New Haven won the first game as well, 3-2, as senior third baseman Jessica Medina (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Sr.) hit 2-for-3 with a solo home run.

Merrimack won the second game, 1-0, on the strength of a home run in the eighth inning by sophomore third baseman Kelsey Ellis (Vancouver, British Columbia).

(April 14, 2009) – Senior pitcher Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out nine on Tuesday afternoon to lead Pace to a 3-0 victory in the first game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader against the Franklin Pierce University softball team at Pace Field. Pace also won the second game, 4-3, behind a 2-for-4, two-RBI day by senior first baseman Patricia Hurley (Assonet, Mass./Apponequet). Senior left fielder Jackie Prybella (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) went 2-for-3 and scored twice in the second game for Franklin Pierce.

Southern New Hampshire won the first game by a score of 8-6 in eight innings. Senior designated player Elaine Matthews (Roslindale, Mass./Archbishop Williams) tallied five hits and drove in a pair of runs in the doubleheader for Franklin Pierce.

Softball Nipped Twice By Dowling

LEOMINSTER, Mass. (April 11, 2009) – Sophomore pitcher Jamie Stalter (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) struck out 10 and threw a five-pitch shutout on Friday afternoon to lead Dowling to a 2-0 victory over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Lassie League Field. Dowling would later complete the doubleheader sweep with a 1-0 win in the second game. Senior pitcher Courtney Jacobs (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) struck out 13, one shy of her career high, in defeat for Franklin Pierce in the first game.

(April 9, 2009) – Franklin Pierce University is pleased to announce that 130 of its 370 student-athletes (35-percent) from the fall 2008 semester have earned a spot on the University’s Athletics Department Honor Roll after earning grade point averages of 3.30 or higher for the fall semester. Softball Swept At Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. (April 8, 2009) – Senior catcher Yesenia Marrero (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) went 3-for-5 with a home run and a double, drove in three runs and scored twice in two games on Wednesday afternoon to lead Stonehill to a sweep of the Franklin Pierce University softball team in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Fr. Gartland C.S.C. Field. Stonehill won the first game, 2-1, and the second game, 5-2. Junior catcher Kristen Tracy (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Walter Panas) had a double and drove in a pair of runs in the doubleheader for Franklin Pierce.
