Softball Shutout Twice At Bentley To Conclude Season
WALTHAM, Mass. (April 27, 2009) Senior shortstop Alex Hitchcock (Abington, Mass./Abington) went 4-for-4, drove in a run and scored twice to lead Bentley to a 7-0 victory over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the second game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Bentley on Monday afternoon. Bentley also won the first game, 4-0, as senior first baseman Dina Ferriero (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury) hit 1-for-3 with a two-run double.

Softball Dropped Twice By Saint Michaels
RINDGE, N.H. (April 26, 2009) Sophomore right fielder Meghan Colitti (Dover, N.H./Berwick Academy) hit an RBI double to left field in the top of the eighth inning to bring home the game-winning run and give Saint Michaels a 4-3 win over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the first game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Franklin Pierce Softball Field on Sunday afternoon. Saint Michaels also won the second game, 13-1 in five innings, as four different Purple Knights drove in a pair of runs each.

Softball Falls Twice Against New Haven
RINDGE, N.H. (April 25, 2009) Junior pitcher Breanne Gleason (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Central) went 2-for-2 with a home run, drove in two runs, scored three times and struck out nine in the circle to lead New Haven to a 13-5, six-inning victory over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the second game of a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader at Franklin Pierce Softball Field. New Haven won the first game as well, 3-2, as senior third baseman Jessica Medina (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Sr.) hit 2-for-3 with a solo home run.

Softball Nipped Twice By Assumption
RINDGE, N.H. (April 24, 2009) Freshman pitcher Jennifer Lowrey (Assonet, Mass./Apponequet) threw a one-hit shutout and recorded 13 strikeouts on Friday afternoon to lead Assumption to 1-0 victory over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the second game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Franklin Pierce Softball Field. Assumption also won the first game, 2-1, as junior center fielder Meghan DiVitto (Milford, Mass./Milford) went 2-for-2 and scored twice.

Softball Falls Twice Against Southern Connecticut State
LEOMINSTER, Mass. (April 23, 2009) Junior shortstop Megan Caporossi (Northford, Conn./North Branford) went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run to lead Southern Connecticut State to an 8-0, six-inning victory over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the first game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Lassie League Field on Thursday afternoon. SCSU also won the second game, 7-1, as freshman right fielder Alyssa Pagano (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) hit 3-for-4 with a double and a triple and scored twice.

(April 19, 2009) Senior pitcher Nicole Welch (Albany, N.Y./Colonie) tossed a four-hit shutout on Sunday afternoon to lead Saint Rose to an 8-0, six-inning victory over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the second game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Esposito Field. Saint Rose also won the first game, 5-0, as senior shortstop Ashley Anderson (Portland, Maine/Portland) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice.

(April 18, 2009) Junior left fielder Bailey Phillips (Rochester, N.Y./Greece-Arcadia) hit 2-for-4 with a triple, drove in two runs and scored three times on Saturday afternoon to lead Le Moyne to an 8-1 victory over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the second game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Niland Athletic Complex. Le Moyne also won the first game of the day, 1-0, behind a two-hit shutout from senior pitcher Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, N.Y./Shaker).

Pitching Highlights Afternoon As Softball Splits With Merrimack
RINDGE, N.H. (April 16, 2009) Senior pitcher Courtney Jacobs (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) tossed a six-hitter, allowed just two runs (one earned) and struck out six on Thursday afternoon to lead the Franklin Pierce University softball team to a 4-2 victory in the first game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader against Merrimack at Franklin Pierce Softball Field. Merrimack won the second game, 1-0, on the strength of a home run in the eighth inning by sophomore third baseman Kelsey Ellis (Vancouver, British Columbia).

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. (April 14, 2009) Senior pitcher Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out nine on Tuesday afternoon to lead Pace to a 3-0 victory in the first game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader against the Franklin Pierce University softball team at Pace Field. Pace also won the second game, 4-3, behind a 2-for-4, two-RBI day by senior first baseman Patricia Hurley (Assonet, Mass./Apponequet). Senior left fielder Jackie Prybella (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) went 2-for-3 and scored twice in the second game for Franklin Pierce.

Softball Swept At Home By Southern New Hampshire
RINDGE, N.H. (April 13, 2009) Sophomore shortstop Melissa Vitagliano (Bedford, N.H./New Hampshire Tech) went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in the second game on Monday afternoon to lead Southern New Hampshire to an 8-3 victory and a doubleheader sweep of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin Pierce Softball Field. Southern New Hampshire won the first game by a score of 8-6 in eight innings. Senior designated player Elaine Matthews (Roslindale, Mass./Archbishop Williams) tallied five hits and drove in a pair of runs in the doubleheader for Franklin Pierce.

LEOMINSTER, Mass. (April 11, 2009) Sophomore pitcher Jamie Stalter (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) struck out 10 and threw a five-pitch shutout on Friday afternoon to lead Dowling to a 2-0 victory over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Lassie League Field. Dowling would later complete the doubleheader sweep with a 1-0 win in the second game. Senior pitcher Courtney Jacobs (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) struck out 13, one shy of her career high, in defeat for Franklin Pierce in the first game.

(April 8, 2009) Senior catcher Yesenia Marrero (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) went 3-for-5 with a home run and a double, drove in three runs and scored twice in two games on Wednesday afternoon to lead Stonehill to a sweep of the Franklin Pierce University softball team in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Fr. Gartland C.S.C. Field. Stonehill won the first game, 2-1, and the second game, 5-2. Junior catcher Kristen Tracy (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Walter Panas) had a double and drove in a pair of runs in the doubleheader for Franklin Pierce.

(April 5, 2009) Fifth-year third baseman Tara DeMontier (Amesbury, Mass./Amesbury) recorded three hits, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice on Sunday afternoon to lead American International to a sweep of the Franklin Pierce University softball team in a Northeast-10 Conference Doubleheader at Groff Field. AIC won the first game, 2-1, and took the second game, 5-0. Junior catcher Kristen Tracy (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Walter Panas) drove in the only run of the day for Franklin Pierce.

Saint Anselm also won the first game of the day, 6-3. Senior shortstop Stephanie Howard (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) went 2-for-5 with a home run and drove in four runs for the Ravens on the afternoon.

(March 31, 2009) Freshman designated player Lindsi Panarelli (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) clubbed a walk-off grand slam on Tuesday afternoon to lead Massachusetts Lowell to an 8-5 victory over the Franklin Pierce University softball team in the second game of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at River View Field. Massachusetts Lowell also won the first game of the day, 4-1. Senior shortstop Stephanie Howard (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) hit a three-run home run, the first of the season for Franklin Pierce, in the second game.

(March 28, 2009) Senior pitcher Nina Cesare (Whitestone, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) threw a perfect game in the first contest on Saturday afternoon as New York Institute of Technology swept the Franklin Pierce University softball team in a non-conference doubleheader at NYIT Softball Complex. Franklin Pierce was defeated by 8-0 scores in five innings in each of the two games.

(March 19, 2009) The Franklin Pierce University softball team concluded its spring trip to Florida with a pair of non-conference, neutral-site losses at the National Training Center on Thursday afternoon. Franklin Pierce was defeated by Philadelphia, 3-0, to start the day. Later in the afternoon, the Ravens fell to Merrimack, 4-0.

(March 15, 2009) Senior Jackie Prybella (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) clubbed a two-run double as part of a 12-hit attack on Monday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University softball team picked up its first win of the season with an 8-2, non-conference, neutral-site win over St. Thomas Aquinas at the National Training Center. Earlier in the day, Franklin Pierce dropped a 7-1 decision to Philadelphia.

Softball Opens Season With Losses To Queens, Dominican
CLERMONT, Fla. (March 14, 2009) Senior pitcher Courtney Jacobs (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) struck out a program-record 14 batters in the first game of the day, but the Franklin Pierce University softball team lost its first two games of the season on Saturday afternoon at the National Training Center. Franklin Pierce was defeated, 3-2, by Queens in nine innings before being shutout by Dominican, 6-0.
