Jessica Wiley Named Northeast-10 Conference Freshman Of The Week

RINDGE, N.H. (March 25,
2009) – Freshman pitcher Jessica Wiley (Cape Vincent, N.Y./Thousand
Islands) of the Franklin Pierce University softball team has
been named Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week for the
week ending on March 22, as announced Monday by the conference
office.
Wiley allowed just three earned runs over 20 innings in the circle
while posting a 2-1 record in Florida last week. Against St. Thomas
Aquinas on March 16, she tossed a complete game, allowed two runs
(one earned) on five hits, walked one and struck out four to pick
up her first collegiate win. Wiley followed that with a
complete-game one-hitter against Nyack on March 18, in which she
allowed one unearned run, walked one and struck out five to post
another win. Her lone loss of the week came against Philadelphia on
March 19, when she allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits over
six innings, walked two and struck out five.
The Ravens (4-6, 0-0 Northeast-10) return to the field on Saturday,
March 28, when they travel to New York Institute of Technology for
a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for noon at
NYIT Softball Complex in Old Westbury, N.Y. Franklin Pierce’s
first home games are a doubleheader scheduled for Sunday, March 29
against Southern New Hampshire at noon.
