Women's Rowing Varsity-Eight Boat Qualifies for Second Level Final on Saturday at Dad Vail Regatta

Varsity Eight boat to compete in second level final on Saturday at 5 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (May 11, 2012) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's rowing team made program history on Friday as it entered a varsity-eight boat for the first time ever at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa. The boat finished fifth in its event in a time of 8:04.402 and qualified for the Division II second level final, which will be held on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The boat included Madelene Morrill at the bow, Danya Mercadante at the two, Ashley Lavoie at the three, Hayley Brown at the four, Natasha Pastor at the five, Morgan Miller at the six, Samantha Bizon at the seven, Jessica Whittemore at the stroke and Bianca Baldelli as the coxswain.

Nova Southeastern won Friday's race in a time of 7:03. Saturday's final for Franklin Pierce will see the Ravens compete against Florida Institute of Technology, Seattle Pacific and the University of Charleston.
