SYRACUSE, N.Y. (March 24, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce men's tennis team lost a close 5-4 contest to Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.
Junior Ricky Sanford (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) recorded his third straight win at #3 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Le Moyne's Rodrigo Canadas, and posted his third straight victory at #2 doubles with Michael Hoffner (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) as the pair defeated TJ Sennett and Pat MacNamara 8-6.
Also securing wins in their singles matches were junior Art Shannon (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) and freshman Matt Szpakowski (Cutchougue, N.Y./Mattituck). Shannon defeated MacNamara 6-2, 6-4, while Szpakowski defeated Sennett 4-6, 7-6 (7-1), 7-5.
Franklin Pierce (5-6, 1-2 NE-10) plays its first home match of the season against Stonehill on Tuesday, March 26 in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at 3 p.m.
