First weekly award for the senior captain this season
RINDGE, N.H. (October 15, 2013) – Franklin Pierce University senior standout Gareth Dudney (North Andover, Mass.) on Tuesday was named the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. It marks the first weekly award for Dudney this season.
The senior captain earned the honor after notching a hat-trick with a career-high three goals to spark Franklin Pierce’s 4-0 blistering of Stonehill last Tuesday. His three markers came on eight attempts with five of those going on net.
Dudney’s first goal came in the 15th minute on a penalty kick attempt, and then in the 33rd minute he made a Stonehill defender pay following a miscue, as he took a deflected ball on his foot and fired a strike to the lower left corner of the net.
Dudney put a capper to his brilliant evening in the 61st minute when he took a crossing pass and struck a shot to the lower right corner of the goal.
Dudney also had a hand in leading an offensive charge by the Ravens in Saturday’s 2-0 triumph over Saint Rose to cap a perfect 2-0 week for Franklin Pierce.
He is tied for the team lead in goals (3) and points(7) on the season. Dudney has fired off a team-high 27 shots and is putting a team-best 14 on goal.
Franklin Pierce returns to action Wednesday when the Ravens travel to face Saint Anselm in Manchester beginning at 3:30 p.m.
