Mens Soccer Ranked Eighth In NSCAA/adidas East Regional Rankings

RINDGE, N.H. (September 1,
2009) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s
soccer team is ranked eighth in the National Soccer Coaches
Association of American/adidas East Regional rankings, as announced
Tuesday by the NSCAA.
The first East Regional rankings of the season see the Ravens
(1-1-0, 0-0-0 Northeast-10) in the eighth position after splitting
a pair of games over the weekend to open the season. Franklin
Pierce opened the 2009 campaign with a 3-0 win over then-No. 2
nationally ranked Dowling at Sodexo Field on Thursday night, but
were defeated, 1-0, in overtime by C.W. Post on Saturday
afternoon.
Wilmington (2-0-0) occupies the top spot in the regional rankings
after opening the season with wins over East Stroudsburg and New
York Institute of Technology over the weekend at the Wilmington
University Invitational. Fellow Northeast-10 Conference members
Southern New Hampshire (1-1-0) and Massachusetts Lowell (0-0-0)
open the season third and fourth in the region, respectively. Le
Moyne (1-0-0) and Merrimack (1-0-0) represent the conference in the
ninth and 10th positions.
The Ravens are back in action on Friday, Sept. 4, when they host
Bridgeport as part of the Franklin Pierce Labor Day Classic.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Sodexo Field in Rindge. The game
is part of Pierce Pride Kickoff 2009, featuring games, giveaways,
promotions and postgame fireworks, courtesy of Atlas Pyrotechnics.
