  • McGuckin Lands on NE10 Academic All-Conference Team

    RINDGE, N.H. (June 11, 2018) – Senior Tom McGuckin (Clayton, N.J.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team has earned Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the winter season, as announced earlier this spring by the Conference office. He was among 67 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the NE10.

  • Men’s Ice Hockey Falls at Saint Michael’s, 6-3, to Close Out Season

    SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (February 17, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team was able to generate 33 shots on the road on Saturday afternoon, and senior forward Jonathan Haun (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored in his final collegiate game, but it would not be enough on the road at Cairns Arena. The Ravens surrendered 41 shots and six goals to suffer a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Saint Michael’s in Northeast-10 Conference play. Junior forward Nic Hermary scored twice to lead the way for the Purple Knights.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey Posts Shutout Win at Saint Michael’s, 3-0

    SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (February 16, 2018) – A first-period goal from senior forward Evan Marek (Enfield, Conn.) -- his first tally of the season -- would stand up the rest of the way on the road on Friday night for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team. The Ravens picked up two more goals in the second period to pad the lead and went on to a 3-0 win over Saint Michael’s in Northeast-10 Conference play at Cairns Arena. Sophomore forward Alex Lester (Methuen, Mass.) had a goal and an assist for Franklin Pierce, while sophomore defenseman Sean Munzing (Beverly, Mass.) dished out two assists for his first career multiple-point game.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey Falls at Stonehill, 5-2

    FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (February 13, 2018) – A 3-0 second-intermission deficit was too much for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team to erase on the road on Tuesday night. Sophomore forward Jack Hall scored a pair of third-period insurance markers for Stonehill, as the Skyhawks took a 5-2 decision from the visiting Ravens in Northeast-10 Conference play at the Foxboro Sports Center.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey Doubled Up by Saint Anselm, 4-2

    WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 10, 2018) – A pair of goals in the third period started the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team on the comeback trail late on Saturday night, but it would not be enough to erase the troubles from earlier in the game. Saint Anselm used three first-period goals to set the table for a 4-2 win over the Ravens in Northeast-10 Conference play at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Freshman forward John Femia scored twice in the win for the Hawks.

    WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 9, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team came up empty at home on Senior Night on Friday night, at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Instead, it was Saint Anselm freshman forward Alec Andreucci who factored in on all four of the game’s goals to lead the Hawks to a 4-0 win over the Ravens in Northeast-10 Conference play.

    WINCHENDON, Mass. (January 30, 2018) – It was an offensive eruption on Tuesday night at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team and Post combined for five first-period goals, on the way to an 11-goal bonanza in a non-conference contest. In the end, Franklin Pierce prevailed, 7-4, behind two goals each from sophomore forward Cameron Shepardson (Albany, N.Y.) and junior defenseman Jack Williams (Suffield, Conn.), as well as a four-point night (1-3-4) from senior co-captain forward Jonathan Haun (Buffalo, N.Y.).

    WORCESTER, Mass. (January 27, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team struck first on Saturday night at Buffone Arena, but the Ravens would later trail Assumption at both intermissions. Down by two with 10 minutes to play, Franklin Pierce struck to cut the gap to one goal in the final six minutes, but could get no closer in a 4-3 loss in Northeast-10 Conference play.

    WORCESTER, Mass. (January 26, 2018) – Two goals in the first half of the second period would be all Assumption needed on Friday night at Buffone Arena. The Greyhounds cashed two more in the third to go on to deal a 4-0 defeat to the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team in Northeast-10 Conference play. Three different players had a goal and an assist each for the homestanding Greyhounds.

    WINCHENDON, Mass. (January 20, 2018) – One night after the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team posted a statement win on the road on Friday night, it was Southern New Hampshire which made a statement away from home on Saturday night. The Penmen scored twice in each period to hammer out a 6-1 win in the back end of a Northeast-10 Conference home-and-home series at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Freshman defenseman Zack Ciampa led the way for SNHU with four assists.

(January 19, 2018) – Despite facing a 51-35 disadvantage in shots on goal, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team was able to pull out a 4-1 victory on the road at Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play on Friday night. The Ravens got a 50-save performance from senior goaltender Tom McGuckin (Clayton, N.J.) and scored four unanswered goals after surrendering the opening tally at the Ice Den. Senior forward Jonathan Haun (Buffalo, N.Y.) notched a goal and an assist in the win.

    RINDGE, N.H. (January 16, 2018) – Sophomore forward Cameron Shepardson (Albany, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, for the week ending on Jan. 14, as announced on Monday afternoon by the Conference office.
  • Late Goal Sinks Men’s Ice Hockey in 2-1 Loss to Assumption

    WINCHENDON, Mass. (January 16, 2018) – With the game even at 1-1 through two periods, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team and Assumption were locked in a battle for what could ultimately be two pivotal Northeast-10 Conference standings points on Tuesday night. After killing a penalty early in the third, the Ravens upped the pressure at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena, with extended attack-zone time, but could find a tiebreaking goal. As the period began to wind down, Assumption put together a stretch of time in the attack zone of its own and was able to convert. Senior forward Tommy Mahoney redirected home the game-winning goal with just 91 seconds remaining, as the Greyhounds pulled out a 2-1 victory.
  • Shepardson Hat Trick Leads Men’s Ice Hockey in 5-2, Bounce-Back Win at Post

    SHELTON, Conn. (January 13, 2018) – Just a night removed from a six-goal drubbing at the hands of a then-winless team, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team made sure to bounce back on Saturday night at Sports Center of Connecticut. The Ravens struck first and later put home two goals each in the second and third periods to salt away a 5-2 road win over Post in non-conference play. Sophomore forward Cameron Shepardson (Albany, N.Y.) netted three goals to tally his first collegiate hat trick in the victory.

    SHELTON, Conn. (January 12, 2018) – Things started slowly for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team on Friday night, as the Ravens fell behind 2-0 on the road at Post in the first period. A stronger second period allowed the crimson and grey to keep the deficit at just two goals heading into the third period at the Sports Center of Connecticut. However, the wheels fell off in the third period, as the Ravens surrendered a quartet of goals and were dealt an 8-2 loss by the Eagles in non-conference play.

In addition, senior goaltender Tom McGuckin (Clayton, N.J.) has been named NE10 Goaltender of the Week.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey Opens Second Half with Bang, Downs Suffolk in OT, 4-3

    CHARLESTOWN, Mass. (January 6, 2018) – First, the assembled crowd on Saturday night was able to see a scoreless first period. Then, they saw the two teams combine for three power-play goals in the second period. Next, they were able to see Suffolk surge to a 3-2 lead early in the third. Later still, they saw the Ravens draw even at 3-3 with eight minutes to play.
  • Parade to Penalty Box Hurts Men’s Ice Hockey in 11-6 Loss at UMass Dartmouth

    NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (December 7, 2017) – After a night of disciplined hockey against Southern New Hampshire at home on Tuesday, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team reverted back to a penalties-by-volume approach on the road on Thursday night, and paid the price. A staggering 13 minor penalties led to five power-play goals, as host UMass Dartmouth dealt the Ravens an 11-6 loss in non-conference play at Hetland Arena. Senior defenseman Jerry Laakso (2-2-4) and junior forward Jonathan Ruiz (1-3-4) had four points apiece to lead the way for UMass Dartmouth, while three Ravens tallied three points each in defeat.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey Skates to 2-2 (OT) Tie with SNHU

    WINCHENDON, Mass. (December 5, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team broke a long scoreless skid on Tuesday night and led deep into the third period at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. However, the Ravens were unable to seal the deal, as a late penalty led to a late power-play goal for Southern New Hampshire, and the visiting Penmen forged a 2-2 tie in the Northeast-10 Conference contest.
  • Early Penalties Hurt Men’s Ice Hockey in 7-0 Loss at Saint Anselm

    MANCHESTER, N.H. (December 1, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team committed five penalties in the opening 33 minutes on Friday night at Sullivan Arena. Saint Anselm capitalized with three power-play goals -- and another score which came just after a man-advantage expired -- to prime the pump and fuel a 7-0 win over the Ravens in Northeast-10 Conference play. Sophomore forward Michael Ferraro tallied his first career hat trick in the win for Saint Anselm.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey’s Felled at Trinity (Conn.), 11-0

    HARTFORD, Conn. (November 26, 2017) – No. 5 nationally ranked Trinity popped home four goals in the first period and never looked back against the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team on Saturday afternoon at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The host Bantams were dominant throughout the day, as they piled up a 77-17 advantage in shots on the way to an 11-0 win in non-conference play. Freshman forward Eric Benshadle put together a natural hat trick for Trinity in the third period, as part of a four-point afternoon (3-1-4).
  • Men’s Ice Hockey’s Blanked at Wesleyan (Conn.), 4-0

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (November 25, 2017) – A three-goal second period sent host Wesleyan (Conn.) on the way to a 4-0 lead over the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team in non-conference play at Spurrier-Snyder Rink on Saturday afternoon. Four different players had two points each in the win for the Cardinals, who outshot the Ravens, 36-20.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey’s Comeback Attempt Comes Up Short in 4-3 Loss at Westfield State

    WESTFIELD, Mass. (November 21, 2017) – After falling behind 3-0 in the opening period, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team twice cut the gap to a single goal on Tuesday night. The Ravens could never get over the hump at Amelia Park Ice Arena, however, as they dropped a 4-3, non-conference decision to host Westfield State. Senior defenseman Donovan Gardiner led the way with a goal and two assists for Westfield State, while sophomore forward Alex Lester (Methuen, Mass.) scored twice in defeat for Franklin Pierce.

Junior forward Shamus Maloney scored twice for Stonehill in the Northeast-10 Conference contest, while freshman forward Logan Stark added his third goal of the weekend series.

(November 11, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team erased 2-0 and 3-2 deficits on Saturday evening, but could not do the same to a late 4-3 deficit at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Saint Michael’s freshman forward Brandon Mitchell popped the game-winner off of a faceoff in the middle stages of the third period, as the visiting Purple Knights took a 4-3, Northeast-10 Conference victory from the Ravens.
