Chighisola Named to Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll

RINDGE, N.H. (February 1, 2010) – Sophomore forward Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week for the week ending on Feb. 7, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Chighisola Skates Into Record Book, Ice Hockey Shoots Past Southern New Hampshire, 6-2

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 6, 2010) – Sophomore forward Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass.) scored two goals and added two assists on Saturday night to lead the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team to a 6-2 victory over Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at The Winchendon School Ice Arena. Chighisola’s second goal of the game was his 16th of the season, which set a new program record. It was also his 31st point of the season, which moved him into a tie for the most points in a single season in Franklin Pierce history.

(February 4, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University Athletics Department is proud to host an exciting tripleheader of Ravens sports on Saturday, as the men’s and women’s basketball and ice hockey teams will all be in action versus in-state foe Southern New Hampshire. The day will begin with the No. 1 nationally-ranked women’s basketball team facing SNHU in The Fieldhouse at 1:30 p.m., and the men’s team following with a 3:30 p.m. tip. The day will conclude with Pierce Pride Night during ice hockey’s showdown with the Penmen at 7 p.m. in The Winchendon (Mass.) School Ice Arena.

FOXBORO, Mass. (January 30, 2010) – Freshman forward Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) scored three goals and added two assists to total five points on Saturday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team picked up a 7-4 victory over Stonehill in Northeast-10 Conference play at Foxboro Sports Center. Sophomore forward Andrew Diozzi picked up two points with a goal and an assist for Stonehill in defeat.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (January 23, 2010) – Senior forward Phil LaBreck (Thornton, N.H.) scored a goal on Saturday night, but the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team was defeated, 2-1, by Plymouth State in non-conference play at The Winchendon School Ice Arena. Junior forward Sean Buckley scored the game-winning goal for Plymouth State with 8:53 to play in regulation.
