Sweeney Named Northeast-10 Conference Freshman Of The Week
Falmouth, Mass. native tallied two points at Westfield State

RINDGE, N.H. (November 16,
2009) – Freshman forward Roscoe Sweeney
(Falmouth, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University ice
hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the
Week for the week ending on Nov. 15, as announced Monday by the
conference office.
Sweeney tallied a goal and an assist for two points while playing
in all three games for the Ravens last week. Both of his points
came in the second period on Thursday night at Westfield State.
Early on, he assisted on a goal by Phil LaBreck
which tied the game at 2-2 just 3:14 into the period. Later, 10:16
into the stanza, he found the back of the net for his first career
goal to tie the game at 3-3 at the time. In other action last week,
Sweeney recorded one shot on goal at Wentworth on Monday night and
three at Nichols on Saturday afternoon.
On the season, Sweeney has recorded one goal and two assists for
three points while playing in all five games for Franklin
Pierce.
This marks the second week in a row in which a Franklin Pierce
hockey player has been named Freshman of the Week by the
Northeast-10. Forward Michael Carr earned the
honors a week ago.
The Ravens (1-3-1, 0-0-0 Northeast-10) return to the ice on
Tuesday, Nov. 17, when they return home to host Southern New
Hampshire in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Faceoff is
scheduled for 7 p.m. at The Winchendon School Ice Arena.


Roscoe Sweeney has been named Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of
the Week.
