RINDGE, N.H. (January 12, 2009) –
Senior forward Jay Stempniak (West
Seneca, N.Y./St. Francis HS) of the Franklin Pierce
University ice hockey team has been named to the Northeast-10
Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Jan. 11, as
announced Monday by the conference office.
Stempniak scored the second goal of the game for the Ravens in
their 5-2 loss to Nichols on Saturday night. Stempniak was the
benefit pass of an outlet pass up the right side from junior
defenseman Rob Perretta (Staten
Island, N.Y./Stanstead College (Quebec)). Stempniak took the
puck into the offensive zone and unleashed a slap shot from the top
of the right circle that found the back of the net. The goal came
at the 5:28 mark of the first period, was Stempniak’s second
of the season and gave Franklin Pierce a 2-0 lead at the time.
This marks the first selection to the Northeast-10 Conference
Weekly Honor Roll of the season for Stempniak.
The Ravens (3-6-2, 1-0-0, NE-10, 2-4-2 ECAC Northeast) return to
the ice on Tuesday, Jan. 13, when they host Saint Michael’s
in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Faceoff is scheduled for 7
p.m. at The Winchendon School Ice Arena in Winchendon, Mass.

Jay Stempniak has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly
Honor Roll.
