Leader of the Flock
Rocky the Raven first appeared in the 1980s, and is now in his third decade as the mascot of Franklin Pierce University's 17 varsity sports. His successor, Rocky II, made his debut in grand fashion at the beginning of the 2010-2011 athletic season.
Leading up to his September 4, 2010 debut, Rocky was put through a vigorous training regimen by the coaches and staff of the Department of Athletics as seen in this video from August 2010:
Rocky, who is a fixture on campus can be seen at various Ravens athletics events throughout the year. Although he was seriously focused on preparations for 2010-11 in the video, Rocky spends his fair share of time acting as the class clown as well. He is always willing to interact with kids in attendance, pose for photos, or break things down and dance during a break in the action.
In addition to sporting events, Rocky can also be found at various events both on and off campus including the University's Open House dates and both Family and Reunion Weekends. Each winter Rocky also hosts his annual Kids' Day event in conjunction with a Ravens basketball double-header.
For more information on Rocky's schedule and availability, contact the athletics department at 603-899-4367. As the schedule permits during the academic year, Rocky has availability for off campus public events.
