Doug Carty is entering his 16th year as Director of Campus Recreation at Franklin Pierce in 2016-17.
Under Carty's watch, the Campus Recreation department has built one of the most successful intramural programs in the northeast, featuring 40 different events and a 43% campus participation rate annually. The department has seen continual rousing success with several cornerstone events which have become campus traditions, including the annual climb of Mount Monadnock, the Freshman Cardboard Boat Regatta and the annual Oozeball Mud Volleyball Tournament.
Carty has also built an impressive Adventure Recreation program at the university, featuring upwards of 15 off-campus trips every semester.
Prior to coming to Rindge in August of 2001, Carty worked as an outdoor retailer, a jeep tour guide and a restaurant manager, all while continually remaining active in various outdoor interests, including rock climbing, whitewater kayaking and sailing.
A 2006 graduate of Franklin Pierce with a bachelor's degree in general studies, Carty also earned an associate degree in applied science of adventure sports from Garrett College in 2001.
Originally from Annapolis, Md., Carty currently resides in Jaffrey, N.H. with his wife, Chauntelle, and their four children: Curtis, Ashlyn, Zachary and Joshua.
