WEEI 93.5 FM Keene to Broadcast Select Franklin Pierce Basketball Games
WEEI's Keene, N.H., affiliate to
broadcast eight men's and five women's basketball games as part of
its local sports coverage kickoff
RINDGE, N.H. (November 13, 2008) - Franklin Pierce
University is happy to announce that WEEI 93.5 FM Keene will
broadcast selected men's and women's basketball games during the
upcoming season as the station kicks off its local sports coverage
this winter.
WEEI 93.5 FM Keene is one of nine stations in the Entercom WEEI Sports Radio Network out of Boston, the number one sports talk radio station in the United States. The Keene station, which went on the air October 1, has made Franklin Pierce athletics part of its local sports coverage, which also includes Keene State College, and several area high schools.
"WEEI 93.5 intends to bring our listeners the best in local sports," said WEEI sports program director Bob Lund, who will also serve as play-by-play announcer for the broadcasts. "Franklin Pierce is recognized as among the best NCAA Division II programs in the country and we are very happy to partner with them to broadcast both men's and women's basketball this winter and other sports in the future."

WEEI's coverage of Franklin Pierce basketball tips off next Wednesday, November 19, when the men's basketball team hosts the University of Massachusetts Lowell at 7:30 p.m. All broadcasts will feature a pre-game show 15-minutes before game time. Joining Lund on the broadcasts will be Rich Campbell. WEEI's intitial Franklin Pierce broadcast schedule is listed below.

In addition to the live game coverage, Lund also hosts "The Press Box" a weekly sports talk show on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., which concentrates on local sports and features a Franklin Pierce guest weekly. Saturday's guest list includes men's basketball head coach David Chadbourne at 10:30 a.m. The station also provides local sports flashes at the top and bottom of every hour from 6 a.m., to 7 p.m., daily.
The WEEI 93.5 FM Keene signal covers the entire Monadnock area of southwestern New Hampshire and Brattleboro, Vt. The area stretches close to Lebanon, N.H., to the north, almost to Manchester, N.H., to the east, beyond Fitchburg, Mass., to the southeast, Northampton, Mass., to the southwest, and near North Adams, Mass., and Bennington, Vt., to the west.
The Franklin Pierce men's and women's basketball teams open their 2008-2009 seasons this weekend. The women, coming off their most successful season in program history, are ranked No. 4 in both the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA and Division II Bulletin preseason polls after capturing their first regional championship and posting a 27-6 overall record, 18-4 in the Northeast-10 (2nd place), last winter. The Ravens play Queens (N.Y.) College on Saturday at the Saint Michael's Doubletree Tip-off Classic in Colchester, Vt., at 2 p.m.
The men, who posted a 10-17 record last winter, open at the Country Inn & Suites Tip-off Tournament, hosted by Saint Anselm College, on Saturday against Nyack College at 1:30 p.m.
