Franklin Pierce Soccer Teams Participate in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

Ravens raise nearly $700 to date for American Cancer Society

RINDGE, N.H. (October 6, 2008) - The Franklin Pierce University men's and women's soccer teams participated in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Boston on Sunday. The teams have also raised $680.00 in pledges for the American Cancer Society to date.

The Ravens participated as part of the First Annual WeGotSoccer Team Challenge at the event, joining a team of approximately 500 walkers in hopes of reaching the WeGotSoccer fundraising goal of $60,000 for the American Cancer Society. WeGotSoccer is one of the region's largest soccer retail locations, located in Raynham, Mass., and is in its second year as a flagship sponsor of Boston's Making Strides walk.

The soccer teams were among the nearly 38,000 walkers and volunteers to make the trek around the Charles River, beginning and ending at the Hatch Shell.

The Franklin Pierce women's soccer team (7-2-1, 5-1-1 NE-10) is back in action tomorrow night for a key Northeast-10 matchup with the University of Massachusetts Lowell at Sodexo Field at 6 p.m. The men (7-4-1, 5-0-1 NE-10) visit UMass Lowell on Wednesday for a big Conference battle at 7 p.m.
