Northeast-10 Conference Spring All-Academic Team

Derek Ingui Derek Ingui has been selected to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Team.

RINDGE, N.H. (July 2, 2009) – Two Franklin Pierce University student-athletes have been selected to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Team for the spring season, as announced by the conference office. Sophomore designated hitter Derek Ingui (Sterling, Mass./Wachusett Regional) of the baseball team and senior midfielder Jon Priest (Burlington, Mass./Landmark School) represented Franklin Pierce among the 83 student-athletes honored by the Northeast-10.

To be eligible for selection to the All-Academic Team, student-athletes were required to meet three requirements. Student-athletes must have participated in at least half of their team’s competitions as a starter or significant contributor, achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) and completed at least one academic year at their current institution. The All-Academic Team was chosen by a vote of Northeast-10 Conference Sports Information Directors.

Ingui has posted a 3.73 grade-point average and is undecided on a major. He finished second on the Ravens this spring with a .356 batting average (78-for-219) which put him seventh in the Northeast-10. He led the conference in triples (7) and total bases (134), while placing in the conference’s top 10 in six other categories. Ingui finished the season second in the Northeast-10 in runs scored (53), tied for second in hits, third in slugging percentage (.612) and runs batted in (47), tied for third in home runs (9) and tied for fourth in doubles (15). Earlier this spring, Ingui was selected ABCA All-East Region First Team, NCBWA All-East Region First Team, Daktronics All-East Region Second Team, ECAC Division II Baseball All-Star First Team and All-Northeast-10 Conference First Team. He also garnered CoSIDA/ESPN: The Magazine Academic All-District I Second Team honors this season.

Jon Priest Jon Priest has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Team.

Priest currently carries a 3.31 grade-point average as a graphic communications major. He played in all 12 games this spring as a reserve for the Ravens and chipped in one goal on 19 shots (10 on goal). He collected eight ground balls and did not commit a penalty over the course of the season. Priest finished his Franklin Pierce career with seven goals and one assist for eight points in 34 games.
